My professional woodworking experience began in 2003 with Craftsman Furniture Service, a furniture restoration shop in Sacramento. I developed their onsite commercial wood repair division, working with downtown Sacramento property management companies to maintain their interior wood surfaces and furniture, including reception areas, paneling, desks, doors, and trim.

A notable job we undertook was refurbishing the transition offices for soon-to-be governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. We also partnered with local furniture stores, repairing items damaged in transit or with cosmetic blemishes.

I branched out independently after a few years by purchasing a Furniture Medic franchise. My association with the franchise exposed me to national accounts such as Restoration Hardware, Williams Sonoma, Pottery Barn, and Nieman Marcus. I also worked with prominent local furniture stores like Goore’s, Design Galleria, Scofield’s, McCreery’s, and many other independent designers throughout the Sacramento region.

Along the way, I received requests for insurance-related cabinetry restoration. My home office had established a new program with major insurance carriers to restore flood and fire-damaged kitchen cabinetry. Given my furniture repair, finishing, and color-matching background, I could do the work but was not licensed.

I eventually obtained my contractor’s license in 2013 and began to take on more cabinetry work. It has sustained my business since then and provided a much-needed service.

Over the years, I’ve repeatedly received customer requests for custom cabinetry, everything from built-ins to custom vanities, epoxy tables, and breakfast nooks. I enjoyed these projects, but the insurance work provided most of my revenue, and I prioritized that above everything because of the relationships I had built with insurance carriers.

With changes in the insurance industry, I want to focus exclusively on custom cabinet builds. With decades-long industry connections and knowledge, I will use this experience to make unique, bespoke custom cabinets and tables for discerning customers in the Sacramento region.
